# Using Scribe Email Assistant

Scribe Email Assistant is a chat-based <glossary-term word="Scribe AI"></glossary-term> assistant built into the Email Builder that builds and edits emails for you — describe what you want and let Scribe make the changes.

Select the Scribe wand icon on the Email Builder **Apps & Blocks** tab to open Scribe Email Assistant.

Type a prompt or paste in a campaign brief and Scribe will build or edit your email using the blocks available in your [Theme](/blocks_and_themes/styling_with_themes/). A header and footer are included by default unless you specify otherwise.

## Building an Email

Describe the email you want to create and Scribe will build a full layout, inserting image URLs and links you provide.

You can also use one of the two structured import modes to generate an email from existing external content:

### Import Article

Generate an email from a publicly hosted article URL. Scribe will structure the content as a headline, hero image, paragraph, and CTA to read more, along with a subject line and preheader.

1. Select the **Create an email from a blog post or landing page** option in the chat panel.
2. Paste in the URL of the blog post or landing page.

### Import Design from Figma

Duplicate a full email template from Figma into Dyspatch, including copy, assets, and design.

1. Select the **Import design from Figma** option in the chat panel.
2. Paste in the URL to the email's frame in Figma.
3. Select the Figma frame to use.

4. Pick which images to import.
5. Select **Generate**.

Using the Figma Theme Importer to align your Dyspatch theme with your Figma design system first will often improve the accuracy of Scribe Email Assistant's Figma import.

## Editing Blocks with Scribe

Ask Scribe to add, remove, or edit blocks in the open email. You can update block content, editable styles, and use Display options for basic conditional formatting — all through natural language.

## Brand Guidelines and Email Guardrails

Scribe uses your organization's [Brand Guidelines](/administration/setting_brand_guidelines/) when writing or editing copy. It also uses them when you request a review of your email.

Additionally, you can ask Scribe to review your current [Email Guardrail](/emails/using_email_guardrails/) flags — it will fix any issues in editable content directly and suggest fixes for the rest.

## Working Within the Email Builder

Scribe Email Assistant works exclusively within the blocks of your email template, making all changes at the draft level. This keeps your published content safe while ensuring every edit stays consistent with your team's approved modules and design system.

For other Scribe-powered capabilities:

- **Scribe Translations** — use [Localize with AI](/localization/localize_content_with_ai/)
- **Approval workflows, publishing, and other automated processes** — use the [Dyspatch MCP](/integrations/mcp-server.md)
